Finding your PAD Project

There are a handful of ways to find your PAD project in BigQuery, but CTA has two recommendations to make it easy to find your data: using PAD UI or manually starring your project!

Finding your project in PAD UI

When logged into PAD UI (https://cta.tools/), you'll see a list of your projects on the left side of the screen. Simply click on your project, and you'll be taken directly to the BigQuery SQL console, where you can start querying your data!

More information on PAD UI can be found here.

Switching your project in the SQL Console

When logged into PAD and using the SQL console, you can easily switch projects by clicking on the dropdown menu next to Google Cloud header in the top right corner of the screen. After clicking the dropdown, you will see a list of your available projects. Once you find the project you want, click on it, and you will automatically switch to it.

Manually starring your BigQuery Project

If you are trying to find another dataset that may be available but is not visible in the UI, you can manually star the project!

To do so, Click on "Add Data +" in the Explorer sidebar on the left of the page.

From there, click "Star a project" and then enter the "Project name." In this example, we're using `cta-open-data` since it's free and available for all PAD users!

Once the project has been selected, you should see a "star" icon next to the project name in the left sidebar. Ensure that "Star" is clicked.

And just like that, your project is now starred and will always appear when you open PAD. Unless, of course, you unstar it. CTA’s official recommendation is that you avoid doing that!
