Changing Ownership of Scheduled Queries and Connected Sheets

Created by Ben Deverman, Modified on Wed, 23 Oct at 2:50 PM by Ben Deverman

When you create a Scheduled Query in PAD or a Connected Sheet with a scheduled refresh to view your data in Google Sheets, BigQuery uses your credentials to run the queries by default. This ensures that the queries run exactly as they would if you manually ran them. However, if the account that created the Connected Sheet or Scheduled Query leaves your organization and their account is de-permissioned, they will stop working. Luckily, rather than having to recreate the Scheduled Query or Connected Sheet from scratch, you can ‘take over’ the connection to use your credentials instead of the previous owners!

Connected Sheets

  1. Go to Refresh options on the Connected Sheet tab of the spreadsheet.

  2. When the Refresh options sidebar pops up, click either on Edit or on the link for the next Scheduled refresh time.

  1. Choose your refresh frequency

  2. Click Save to transfer the scheduled refresh ownership to yourself

Scheduled Queries

  1. Navigate to the Scheduled Queries in your PAD project.

  2. Click on the MORE button in the top right corner and select Update credentials.

    Update scheduled query credentials.

  3. Allow 10 to 20 minutes for the change to take effect. You may need to clear your browser’s cache.
